FAQs
General
How long does it take to set up from the bag?
You can go from "bag to water" in about 15–20 minutes. If you use the included high-quality two-stage electric pump, you can have the hull and air deck fully tensioned in no time.
What is the maximum engine size for the XPLORE CAT?
The 3.8m Cat is rated for a maximum of 20HP and the 3.3m Cat is rated to 10HP.
Do I really need to pack the floor separately?
Yes. While it might seem easier to roll them together, packing the Air Deck floor in its own bag protects the high-pressure drop-stitch material from being pinched or abraded by the heavier hull. It also makes the boat much easier to lift by splitting the weight into two manageable packages. Don't worry our included floor and accessory bag has more than enough space to fit the rest of the gear.
Can I stand up and fish on the Air Deck floor?
Absolutely. When inflated to the recommended 11 PSI, the drop-stitch floor becomes incredibly rigid—feeling more like a solid platform than an inflatable. Its flat surface and the catamaran's wide beam make it one of the most stable casting platforms in its class.
What should I do if I get a leak from a sharp rock or oyster shell?
While our PVC is heavy-duty and reinforced, "Xploration" often involves sharp rocks, oyster shells, or barnacles which can cause abrasions or small punctures.
● Find it: Spray the area with soapy water; the leak will create obvious bubbles.
● Patch it: Clean and dry the area thoroughly. Select a patch from your included repair kit, apply a thin layer of the provided adhesive to both the patch and the boat, wait until "tacky" (approx. 5 mins), and press together firmly.
● Pro Tip: For the best bond, allow 24 hours to cure before re-inflating to full pressure.
Why does your boat weigh more than some other brands?
We try and give you the true weight of everything including ALL the accessories! Some companies will only list the boat weight as the boat and the air floor or even just the hull on its own! We want our customers to have EVERYTHING they need so naturally our weights will be higher.
Is it normal for the boat to lose pressure overnight?
Yes. Air pressure changes with temperature. If you inflate your boat in the heat of the afternoon and check it in the cool of the next morning, it will feel softer. This isn't a leak—it’s physics. If you are unsure simply top it up to recommended pressures before your launch.
Can I tow the XPLORE CAT behind a larger boat?
Yes, but with extreme caution. Always use the reinforced D-rings on the bow for towing. Never tow at high speeds in heavy chop, and ensure the boat is empty of heavy gear. Long-distance towing is not recommended, it is always safer to bring the boat on board and deflate for storage or onto a davit.
What should I do if I get fuel or oil on the PVC?
Wipe it off immediately. Petroleum products can break down the PVC and weaken the adhesives over time. Use a professional PVC cleaner or a mild soap and water solution to neutralize the area as soon as possible.
Why is a "Short Shaft" motor required?
The transom height on the XPLORE CAT is specifically designed for a 15-inch (Short Shaft) motor. Using a long-shaft motor will put the propeller too deep, creating excessive drag, spray, and potential handling issues.
Can I leave my boat inflated all summer?
You can, but you must protect it. If left inflated, the boat must be covered with a UV-resistant boat cover and stored in the shade. Direct, 24/7 Australian sun exposure will shorten the lifespan of any inflatable and may affect your warranty. The Pontoons and air floor must always be vented down from operating pressure especially if leaving for a long time between uses.
How do I clean the boat after a salty session?
Rinse with fresh water only. Pay special attention to the area where the floor meets the tubes, as sand and salt can get trapped there and act like sandpaper. For a deep clean, use a soft-bristle brush and a dedicated inflatable boat cleaner.
Does the boat come with a warranty?
Yes! We stand behind our "Xploration Readiness." Your XPLORE CAT comes with a comprehensive manufacturer's warranty covering seams and materials. Be sure to follow the care and maintenance guide to keep your warranty valid and your boat in peak condition.
How do I register my boat?
Unlike some other brands your boat comes ready to register with a pink slip and an Australian ready HIN number. This saves the costly and time consuming process of getting a boat code inspection prior to registration. Only true Australian boat manufacturers and importers can offer this so keep it in mind when deciding on brand to buy
